US Surfer Breaks Guiness World Record For Largest Wave

Garrett McNamara has taken the Guinness World Record for the largest wave ever surfed after riding a 78-foot tall break off the coast of Portugal in November. A panel of independent experts took six months to confirm the official height of the wave, which beat the previous record by only a foot (approx. 30cm.) The record was confirmed at the annual Billabong XXL Global Big Wave Awards last week.
