Yahoo! vs Facebook: Was Yahoo! Ever Even a Chance?

In the news this week is an update to the ongoing Yahoo! v Facebook law suit scandal that is taking over news feeds everywhere most people don't even know about.

A few weeks ago, Yahoo! decided to sue Facebook over allegedly violating ten (rememebr this number) of Yahoo's patents, including advertising, security and even a 'social networking' patent Yahoo! had supposedly put on the shelf.

It took a few weeks, but Facebook has come roaring back - filing a counter lawsuit against Yahoo! for stealing, you guessed it, ten of their original patents, mainly covering photo tagging, the dreaded Facebook 'reccomendation' service and other online advertising methods.

It's pretty clear that Mark Zuckerburg has one thing, and one thing only in mind here: An absolute demolition of an already struggling online competitor. You have to give it to him, a counter lawsuit with the same number of patent violations is pretty impressive.

In the final kick to the groin of Yahoo!, Facebook released the following statement:

"From the outset, we said we would defend ourselves vigorously against Yahoo's lawsuit, and today we filed our answer as well as counter-claims against Yahoo for infringing 10 of Facebook's patents ... While we are asserting patent claims of our own, we do so in response to Yahoo's short-sighted decision to attack one of its partners and prioritise litigation over innovation."
We have only one response:
