Man, That Camouflage Must Have Really Been Working Well
It looks like this has been clipped from a real newspaper. Common sense tell us otherwise, but we're going to go ahead and pretend that this is the real deal:
Picture, for a second, the moment when the guy who was supposed to be watching the vehicle reported it as missing to his superior... "I swear, it was right there and then it just vanished!"

This Is The Stupidest Lawsuit We've Ever Seen (And That's Saying A Lot)
Pop sensation Justin Bieber has been hit with a $9 million lawsuit, which in the grand scheme of things isn't all that surprising. After all, Americans (and unfortunately, some Australians) are all out to make a quick buck. But this is the worst reason we've ever heard (from The Courier-Mail):
"The 18-year-old pop star is being sued for $9 million by a woman who claims her hearing was damaged at one of his concerts.
Stacey Wilson Betts says her hearing loss occurred after she took her daughter to the singer's concert on July 14, 2010 in Portland, Oregon. Stacey said it was incredibly loud inside the arena due to shrieking fans.
"I was injured by a sound blast that exceeded safe decibel levels. I suffer hearing loss, tinnitus and hyperacusis in both ears", Betts claimed in the lawsuit, TMZ reports.
The suit alleges that Bieber "created a wave like effect of screaming by pointing into various sections of the arena." As a result, Betts claims she now suffers from tinnitus, which causes a constant pulsing, whooshing sound that makes it hard to sleep, along with other hearing-related damage.
The woman is suing Bieber, his label Island Def Jam Records, the concert promoter and the arena for a whopping $US9.23 million in damages."
This is a new low. After this law suit fails, we're tipping she will sue the fans in the crowd for cheering too loudly.

"School Two Easy For Kids" In The US
Oh, the irony. A US news station has featured a report on school being TOO easy for kids... only thing was, they misspelled their graphic:
Manhattan Officially Has The Coolest Sunset (Only Twice A Year)
New Yorkers gathered at dusk to witness "Manhattanhenge" - a rare alignment of the sun with the east-west street grid in which it appears to set between skyscrapers.
Dozens of people gathered shortly before 8:30pm Wednesday local time at the corner of 14th Street and Sixth Avenue, taking pictures of the rare sight (click photos to view full size):
Manhattanhenge occurs twice during the Northern Hemisphere's summer - in May and July. The phenomenon also occurs in winter but is often obscured by the miserable winter weather.

US Driver Flies Off Embankment During Police Chase!
A middle school teacher under investigation in a lewd-acts case led police officers on a chase today that ended with his ute being spectacularly driven off the road and over a small cliff - flying into a tree:
No word yet on the man's condition, but we think one look at the video will leave little to the imagination.

Roger Clemens Found Not Guilty Of Lying When He Said He Never Took Steroids
So even though we all know he did, the US Government took five years, millions of dollars, and one previous mistrial to reach this point. Of course - the Clemens case was much more important than the Global Financial Crisis and the Iraq War which received less time in front of US Congress than did steroids in baseball over the past few years.
Of course, the best place to wrap up how everybody feels about Clemens is by hitting Twitter, so here are the 10 best tweets in response to the Clemens trial:

Of Course They Did: US To Introduce Vending Machine Pizza
Don't you hate waiting 15 minutes for a pizza? Or having to actually go to the pizza place? And get out of the car? Or get up off the couch to pay the delivery guy?
Ok, so pizza is already pretty easy to enjoy. But get ready for Let's Pizza, a pizza vending machine that promises to deliver hot pizza in less than three minutes.

There is no way this can possibly be spitting out an edible pizza. But that's not going to stop us from trying.

It's Officially Illegal To Have Unprotected Sex If You Know You Have Herpes
At least based on the precedent set by a case in Oregon in the US this week.
A 69-year-old man revealed to his 49-year-old partner (on the fourth date!) that he had herpes... after they had finished having unprotected sex, and as they say, the rest is history.
Well, sort of. It was revealed the woman offered the man a condom (and thought he put it on) before they got down to business. The pair met on the online dating site eHarmony, apparently a glowing advertisement for 69-year-old men with herpes looking for a new sex partner the world over.
If that's you, click here to visit the dating website. For everyone else, read more about this bizarre story here.

Don't Destroy Your Eyes Looking At The Transit Of Venus - Check It Out Right Here
The incredibly rare transit of Venus has begun, and health officials are reminding people not to look directly at the sun during the astronomical event. We thought we would step up and, for the sake of everyone's poor retinas, show you what all the fuss is about:
The event occurred last on June 8, 2004, and will not happen again until December 11, 2117. Only six transits of Venus are known to have been observed since humans identified the phenomena: in 1639, 1761, 1769, 1874, 1882 and 2004. As always, click the photos to view full size:
The event holds special significance for Australia - Captain James Cook travelled to the island of Tahiti in 1769 to observe the transit of Venus. It was on that expedition that he later discovered the east coast of Australia.

Judge Busted Playing Solitaire On Laptop During Trial
One of the five judges in the trial against Anders Behring Breivik, the dude who killed 77 people in attacks in Norway last year and asked the court to thank him for his heroics, was caught on camera playing solitaire online during proceedings on Monday:
Apparently, Ernst Henning Eielsen (the judge) thinks this case deserves just about as much time as the rest of us. Seriously, just get this guy locked up already.

Runaway Truck Obliterates A Sports Bar
Gordie’s Place, a bar in Little Canada, Minnesota was on the wrong end of a massive truck crash last week, and this shocking surveillance footage shows just how close some of these patrons came to an untimely death:
Amazingly, everyone survived the accident and we're pretty sure Gordie will have his bar back up and running in no time.

If You Died During Sex, Would You Sue Your Doctor? This Guy Did, And Won
And the rest of the world officially bends over laughing at the US legal system. We don't even want to touch this story at the risk of leaving out the best details (which is, well, the ENTIRE STORY) but in a nutshell:
Guy seees his doctor, gets booked in for a heart exam, cheats on his wife (with two women), dies, dead guy's family sue the doctor for 'medical malpractice after he was not warned to avoid physical activity by his cardiologist', and THEY WIN.
$3 million, just like that.
You know you have to read the full story. We're off to organise a threesome.

Have You Seen This Video Of A Grandma Almost Falling Out Of Her Parachute Harness Yet?
In an experience nothing short of terrifying, 80-year-old Laverne Everett decided to go skydiving to celebrate her 80th birthday. Dive from the sky she did - but for a time there it looked like it would be the last thing she would do:
Various news outlets (and the all-important YouTube commenters) have taken aim at the instructor/dive buddy and placed blame with him on the almost-disaster. But we're pretty sure he is the reason Laverne is still here today - and that's something that can't be overlooked.

This Guy Is 'Dating' Both His Wife And Her Twin Sister
In a story that will make all of us just a little uncomfortable, Perth man Marc Glasby has revealed he is currently in a relationship with both his wife, Belle Glasby and her identical twin sister, Dorothy (we can only presume she has taken the same surname?)
Even we aren't sure what to make of this one... but check out the happy triple below:

Man, this guy must have a way with the words. SBS are premiering a documentary on the unique story this week, and you can read more about that here.

South Korea Is Going To Chemically Castrate This Sex Offender
Yep, it's official; Asian countries think of EVERYTHING first. From Ninemsn:
"South Korea will this week chemically castrate a man repeatedly convicted of sexually assaulting children in the country's first use of the punishment, an official said Wednesday. The 45-year-old surnamed Park is due to be released from prison in July after serving a 10-year sentence for the attempted rape of a 10-year-old girl.
He will be given an injection every three months for the next three years to reduce his sexual urges by manipulating his hormones "whether he likes it or not", justice ministry official Kim Hyung-Yul told AFP. Park previously served three prison terms for sexually attacking girls under the age of 16 in 1984, 1991 and 1998."
At least by providing his surname, the authorities have narrowed down who this guy could be to just about any Korean man ever born.

The Fact this Guy Survived Is The Biggest Miracle Of The Year
Check out the photos from this gnarly crash in Melbourne's north this morning. Despite being in peak hour traffic, driving off a cliff, and landing upside down some 15 feet below the road in a creek, this guy walked away with only minor injuries.
A passing motorist heroically jumped into the water to help pull the man from his partly submerged vehicle. Police have said this act of bravery certainly saved the driver's life.

Facebook Shares Drop... Writing On The Wall or Too Soon To Call?
Facebook shares dropped 11% overnight from their opening price of US$38, as initial skepticism over the value of the social media company has continued to grow.
Facebook, like Instagram, has generated their absurd 'value' solely from their potential - not from their income revenue streams or profit margins. Therein lies the problem - the value of the company is not based on its $1.5 billion operating profit in 2011, but rather how many users are on the site.
We dug up an interesting conversation over at Forbes.com from February this year, where the following meme was published:

What this creates is an alarming game of pass-the-parcel, which is pretty much a mirror-image of the last time everyone thought they were going to make millions off the internet without having any "real" money. In the late 1990's, upstart internet companies were given ridiculously high values based on their potential in the new digital age. Of course, as none of them were making any money, once investors stopped pouring millions of dollars in, they simply ceased to operate and the money invested had been turned into stock shares of companies that no longer operated (ie. worthless).
The writing has been on the wall ever since - internet-based companies come with a massive risk of not having "real" money, only "value." In a traditional business sense, a company that took some eight years to turnover it's first profit with the audience Facebook has (all while being a market leader for at least half of that time) would raise some alarm bells.
We'll get even nerdier after the jump...

There Was A Ridiculously Awesome Solar Eclipse Today
Both sides of the Pacific Ocean had an amazing view of a partial solar eclipse creating a 'ring of fire' in the skies today. It was much of Asia witnessing the eclipse at sundown, while the western United States awoke to the magnificent sight.
It was the first eclipse much of Japan had seen in close to a thousand years.

Man Wakes Up At His Own Funeral
Ninemsn is reporting a southern Egyptian man has been discovered to be alive only hours before his funeral in the southern province of Luxor (no, not that Luxor).
Hospital officials pronounced Hamdi Hafexz al-Nubi, 28, dead after he collapsed at work last week. Doctors said he had suffered a likely heart attack, and his relatives accepted the grim news and began to prepare for his burial according to Islamic tradition.
Days later, the family only realised Mr al-Nubi was still alive when a doctor was sent to their house to sign a death certificate.
Understandably, the family didn't cancel the funeral but instead celebrated the miracle of life with all of the guests of the would-be funeral proceedings.
How this still happened in the year 2012, we may never know. Click here to read more.
