Edvard Munch's "The Scream" - easily one of the most well-known paintings in history - set a world record Wednesday when it sold for $119.9 million at auction in New York. We all know the painting - and while we're sure it's great... who in their right mind would pay that for any painting?
Maybe we don't appreciate real art... but this is easily one of the most absurd purchases we have ever seen. The previous record for most expensive painting was $106.5 million for Picasso's "Nude, Green Leaves, and Bust" which, if we're honest here, looks like nothing more than a bunch of random shapes thrown together.
On second though, we definitely don't appreciate real art.
